Ninety-six drivers, which included state rodeo champions, as well as NRMCA member company champions from around the nation, competed to be crowned the “Best of the Best”. Mr. Martinez was selected champion based on a cumulative score derived from competitions that included a driving challenge course, visual vehicle inspection, reaction-time test, delivery ticket station and a 2-hour written examination. South Florida Water Management District Lakeside Ranch The SFWMD Okeechobee Field Station were installing a series of temporary pumps to capture water from the S-135 Basin that would otherwise go into Lake Okeechobee. The water will instead be moved into Phase 2 of the Lakeside Ranch Stormwater Treatment Area for shallow storage. The 2,700-acre Lakeside Ranch STA in western Martin County is a key component of the Northern Everglades and Estuaries Protection Program that will improve the quality of water flowing into the lake. "Lake Okeechobee is the heart of the Everglades," said SFWMD Governing Board member Brandon Tucker. "The Lakeside Ranch STA will reduce the amount of phosphorus in water that flows into the lake to benefit the entire region. This is, yet, another critical restoration project that is being completed under the leadership of this District and Gov. Rick Scott. SFWMD previously constructed 2,700 acres of wetlands in two phases, capable of treating stormwater runoff from the Taylor Creek and Nubbin Slough basins flowing into Lake Okeechobee. The treatment area uses wetland plants to remove phosphorus from stormwater runoff naturally. The S-191A Pump Station is the last component of the Lakeside Ranch project. Taylor Creek and Nubbin Slough basins have the highest phosphorus levels of any incoming watershed into the lake, with average total levels of more than 400 parts per billion (ppb). Phosphorus levels leaving Lakeside Ranch after treatment have been measured as low as 20 ppb. The STA can remove nearly 21 tons of phosphorus each year from the waters feeding the lake. He is a hardworking and dedicated member of the Central Customer Service team out of our Orlando Office. He recently took home the outstanding title of Team Member of the Year 2018 at Maschmeyer’s Annual Award Banquet (Central Region) this past April. Check out the exceptional review below from Eric Scanlon, President of Top Form Industrial, showcasing Tom’s dedication and constant hard work for our Customers! Keep up the great work Tom! Just wanted to drop a quick line about one of your employees. I have been working with Tom Shultz, COD Dispatcher for a couple years now. We do work all over the country and worked closely with Tom on about 60 or so pours early last year as we were doing a FL program for Walmart. That program has taken us elsewhere in the country for the past 8 months. We got another project in Orlando that was a 260 yard pour, which we did last week. When I called Tom 8 months later, he was excited to hear from me again and remembered details of our small talk conversations that no other vendor would ever remember. Just as last year, he made this order so easy and the coordination of the pour even easier. He communicated regularly and would always follow up to make sure all went well, always giving me the comfort that Maschmeyer had their part of the project under control and was something I no longer had to worry about. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air to deal with someone who is so focused on customer service in a time when so many others in this country fail to recognize customer service and its importance. I typically deal with 30+ concrete vendors a year and I cringe every time we have a project that’s not in Maschmeyer’s territory. I understand it takes an entire organization to be on the same page to make things operate as smoothly as you guys do, and I appreciate all those who make it possible, but Tom is a special person who always makes the process a positive experience in a way that I have not seen replicated in the industry. I appreciate the job he does.” Keith Gooch won the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida Youth of the Year, congratulations Keith! March 7, 2019
Paul Martinez President/CEO at Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida I can think back and remember several clear and defined moments where Boys & Girls Clubs have significantly impacted the lives of our Club members. I cherish these moments of perspective because growth can be difficult to see during the day-to-day, week-after-week cadence of running an organization. Last week at Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida’s Youth of The Year ceremony, the growth was again clear for everyone to see. I was filled with a sense of satisfaction and purpose as I watched 20 Junior and Youth of The Year candidates, exceptional leaders in their Clubs and communities, recognized in front of their families, Boys & Girls Club staff and board members. ![]() Congratulations to the Technical Services team at #MaschmeyerConcrete for being honored by the NRMCA for Excellence in Quality 2018. The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Producer Excellence in Quality Award recognizes the commitment to quality initiatives of ready mixed concrete producer members. A significant barrier to performance specifications for concrete, determined in the P2P Initiative, has been the qualification level of a concrete producer. This award provides a basis to recognize those that strive for continuous improvement through their quality initiatives. It provides reasonable goals for those concrete producers interested in elevating their own quality management systems. The criteria for this award are based on the guideline to develop a Quality Plan in Quality Management Systems for Ready Mixed Concrete Companies.
