![]() Tom Schultz has been a Team Member with Maschmeyer Concrete Company for 6 years now. He is a hardworking and dedicated member of the Central Customer Service team out of our Orlando Office. He recently took home the outstanding title of Team Member of the Year 2018 at Maschmeyer’s Annual Award Banquet (Central Region) this past April. Check out the exceptional review below from Eric Scanlon, President of Top Form Industrial, showcasing Tom’s dedication and constant hard work for our Customers! Keep up the great work Tom! Just wanted to drop a quick line about one of your employees. I have been working with Tom Shultz, COD Dispatcher for a couple years now. We do work all over the country and worked closely with Tom on about 60 or so pours early last year as we were doing a FL program for Walmart. That program has taken us elsewhere in the country for the past 8 months. We got another project in Orlando that was a 260 yard pour, which we did last week. When I called Tom 8 months later, he was excited to hear from me again and remembered details of our small talk conversations that no other vendor would ever remember. Just as last year, he made this order so easy and the coordination of the pour even easier. He communicated regularly and would always follow up to make sure all went well, always giving me the comfort that Maschmeyer had their part of the project under control and was something I no longer had to worry about. It’s honestly a breath of fresh air to deal with someone who is so focused on customer service in a time when so many others in this country fail to recognize customer service and its importance. I typically deal with 30+ concrete vendors a year and I cringe every time we have a project that’s not in Maschmeyer’s territory. I understand it takes an entire organization to be on the same page to make things operate as smoothly as you guys do, and I appreciate all those who make it possible, but Tom is a special person who always makes the process a positive experience in a way that I have not seen replicated in the industry. I appreciate the job he does.”

![]() Congratulations to the Technical Services team at #MaschmeyerConcrete for being honored by the NRMCA for Excellence in Quality 2018. The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Producer Excellence in Quality Award recognizes the commitment to quality initiatives of ready mixed concrete producer members. A significant barrier to performance specifications for concrete, determined in the P2P Initiative, has been the qualification level of a concrete producer. This award provides a basis to recognize those that strive for continuous improvement through their quality initiatives. It provides reasonable goals for those concrete producers interested in elevating their own quality management systems. The criteria for this award are based on the guideline to develop a Quality Plan in Quality Management Systems for Ready Mixed Concrete Companies. For more information: https://www.aggregateresearch.com/news/nrmca-announces-winners-of-excellence-in-quality-awards-2018/ ![]() Eight producers serving six states were recognized as industry leaders in environmental stewardship by judges for the 12th annual Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards. Program cosponsors Concrete Products magazine and the Environmental Task Group of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Operations, Environment and Safety Committee further commend all of this year’s contestants for their dedication to environmental initiatives. The recently introduced “Comeback Kid” award honors those companies that have invested significant capital and effort to upgrade an old plant to the level of a model facility. The Environmental Excellence Awards program is open to any NRMCA member company owning a fixed plant in the U.S. or Canada. To be eligible, facilities must have operated in full compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations for a minimum of two years. Criteria weighed by the judges include compliance, site aesthetics, written plant procedures, training and employee involvement, water/ solid waste management, air quality management, community relations, operating challenges, overall management commitment, and environmental delivery awareness. Thus, written overviews of each criterion are submitted by contestants with photos illustrating air- and water-pollution control methods, noise abatement measures, and landscaping. Entries for the Environmental Excellence program are split into three categories based on the plant’s annual production volume: A for plants producing less than 50,000 yd.; B for plants producing between 50,000 and 100,000 yd.; and C for plants producing more than 100,000 yd. Serving as judges in this year’s competition were four industry professionals: · Thomas Carter, Portland Cement Association, Washington, D.C. office · Becky Morris Aggregate Industries Inc., Mid Atlanta Region, Washington, D.C. · John Hayden, National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, Alexandria, Va. · Doug Ruhlin, Resources Management Associates, Forked River, N.J. As the Environmental Excellence Awards program is sustained by contestants’ participation, eligible producers are encouraged to enter their plants later this year for the 2007 competition. Entry forms are available at www.nrmca.org B Winner Maschmeyer Concrete Co. Martin County Plant Stuart, Florida In recruiting, training, and retaining high-quality team members – undeterred by occasional hurricane squalls – Maschmeyer’s Martin County Plant aims to build a first-rate work force fully vested in the operation. To that end, a Team Member Handbook outlines employee procedures; Drum Beat magazine communicates company news to both employees and customers; bonus load, yearly safety bonus, and delivery professional referral bonus programs reward initiative and extra effort; and, an annual truck and operator rodeo provides entertainment, plus cash prizes for winners. Further enhancing employment at the facility is a site layout optimized for ease and efficiency. Basic procedures save hours of maintenance time and prevent contamination, e.g., aggregate trucks never cross mixer truck paths, and water/ solid waste is captured immediately through source point collection. Maximum water recycling is achieved by multiple settings of all contaminated water prior to discharge into the pond system; automation of all setting pits and ponds; and, regular inspection of all systems to insure proper functioning. |
